Improved 30-km stretch has six lanes and cost $73.6 million.
A 30-km upgraded stretch of National Highway 1A in central Quang Nam province was opened on June 21 by the Ministry of Transport and the Quang Nam Provincial People’s Committee.
Passing through Dien Ban and Phu Ninh districts, the upgrades were carried out by the 545 Corporation with total investment of over VND1.6 trillion ($73.6 million) under the BOT (build-operate-transfer) mode.
The stretch has six lanes and allows for a maximum speed of 80km/h.
To complete the upgrades the province had to relocate and compensate more than 2,600 households, increasing the total number of households having to be relocated and compensated for all upgrades to National Highway 1A in the province to 5,900.
Previously, upgrades from Km 987 to Km 1027 passing through Phu Ninh and Nui Thanh districts and Tam Ky city commenced in March 2013.
