Official visit to take place on August 30 and 31.
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro Moros will pay an official visit to Vietnam on August 30 and 31 at the invitation of State President Truong Tan Sang. This is the first visit to Vietnam by the President since he took office in April 2013.
The friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Venezuela has seen solid development since the two countries set up diplomatic relations in December 1989. Trade turnover rose from $30 million in 2013 to $62.7 million in 2014 and stood at $4 million in first three months of this year.
At the third meeting of the Vietnam-Venezuela Inter-Governmental Meeting held in March in Hanoi, the two countries agreed to focus on bilateral cooperation in a range of sectors, including energy, oil & gas, and agriculture, and to promote Vietnamese investment in Venezuela in the fields of manufacturing, fabrication and assembly, electrical and electronic appliances, and construction, among others.
