Vietnam Expo 2016's opening ceremony
Annual trade promotion fair gets underway on April 13.
The 26th Vietnam International Trade Fair (Vietnam Expo), with the theme “Enhancing Regional and Global Economic Links” within the concept of “2016 - The Year of Important Trade Agreements”, opened on April 13 at the Hanoi International Exhibition Center (ICE) and will close on April 16.
At the opening ceremony, the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai said Vietnam Expo has been hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), cooperating with other ministries, departments, provincial agencies and trade promotion organizations to hold annually since 1991.
Mr. Bui Huy Son, Head of Trade Promotion Agency at the MoIT emphasized that besides displaying and introducing of enterprises' products at the fair, the organization board also enhances commercial connection activities between local and foreign enterprises, welcoming international guests to purchase goods, holding live activities, introducing updated documents on investment and trade development orientation of Vietnam and countries around the world.
The expo this year has nearly 600 booths with more than 500 Vietnamese and international exhibitors from 14 local cities and provinces and 23 countries and territories.
It is estimated to attract at least 20,000 visitors, with exhibition fields including machinery and equipment, construction, electronics, information technology, materials and accessories, food and beverages, and household appliances, among others.
A range of other activities are also to be held, including the Vietnam - Belarus Trade Forum, the Vietnam Export Promotion Forum, and visits to the Pho Noi Industrial Park and factories in northern Hung Yen province.
The expo has become a key element of trade promotion activities, presenting opportunities for Vietnamese enterprises to bolster their exports, develop local markets, and take advantage of international integration.
