Government report to NA on TPP to be completed by April for ratification at July session.
The Office of the Government announced on its website that Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has concluded preparations for the National Assembly (NA) to ratify the TPP at the first session of NA XIV, which is expected to be held in July.
The PM noted that quick approval of the TPP would play an important role in confirming the country’s strong efforts in entering into the agreement as an active member and it working towards completing its market economy and legal framework. Quick approval would also allow more time for preparing enterprises for when the TPP comes in effect.
PM Dung has asked Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc to direct the Ministry of Justice and related agencies to review and assess the impact of the TPP on the country’s legal framework.
All ministries and agencies equal to ministries must direct their personnel involved in the TPP negotiations to review their sectors, propose specific roadmaps, and determine which documents must be prioritized for submission to the government, before April 20.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade will coordinate with the Ministry of Justice and other related ministries and departments to compile and submit a report on the TPP to the government prior to April 20.
